If you are not a spoiled hoity-toity, the Castle Inn will serve you very well as a base for your SF trip. It is not fancy, but it is very clean and the price is right. The neighborhood is very safe and offers good food, bars, Walgreens, and coffee shops. Buy a MUNI pass-- you can pick up a bus or cable car going almost anywhere in SF from a stop near the hotel. Some of my family's best memories are from riding the bus; every ride we took offered great people-watching and yet it is completely safe.

“Perfect Location With Good Price-Performance Ratio”

The Motel is perfectly located to all worth seeing sights. It was clean and i felt comfortable. Fridge, Microwave, coffee machine, flat iron/ Ironing board available. Also you have free parking lots either in the inner courtyard or in the parking garage in the Basement, which is a Little bit narrow though. The staff was very friendly and helpful, showed me immediatly on a map where I should go and where I better not should go (dangerous area). In the closer area you have many bars and Restaurants, which are for San Francisco easily by walking reachable (flat area :-)). For all other sights you can use the Cable Cars!

“Clean, Clean, Clean”

We have stayed at Castle Inn a couple of times now and both times the service has been friendly and excellent and the rooms are sooo clean. Yes it is a older place and the beds are a little soft, but where in SF can you get free parking, small free breakfast, free wireless internet, refrig., microwave and coffee maker in room for a reasonable rate. I plan on returning soon with my husband and 2 teenagers. Good job Castle Inn!

“Great Location, Great Place - Everything You Could Ask For”

Booked here on the basis of price and ratings. I was not disappointed, Checkin was very efficient - I was given a map and major sights/ landmarks noted. It was clear that the castle was in a great location - just of Van Ness, on a major bus route and made the main sights easily accessible. My room was lovely, 2 beds, TV, micro, fridge, coffee maker. Plenty of power sockets, nicely furnished. Bed was very comfy, room very clean, shower was super, nice and powerful with adjustable head and soft flannels, towels. Free wifi which was fast and reliable. Heater operated fine. Free parking, although this was limited so maybe worth phoning ahead if you plan to checkin late. Breakfast was coffee, juice, oat bran, pastries, yogurt and fruit. Room was nice and quiet, no disturbance. Service throughout my stay was excellent. Can't recommend this place enough!

“Perfect Location For Exploring San Francisco”

We stayed here for four nights and found the hotel to be ideally located for getting around San Francisco. There were plenty of great restaurants and pubs nearby. We could walk to all the local attractions (if you don't mind hills) such as union square and fisherman's wharf.

“Great Location, Clean”

My stay at Castle Inn was really great. it is very close to the bus station, and arriving earlier than the check-in time I had no problem leaving my suitcase at the front desk. The hotel is very close to Van Ness Avenue, one of San Fran's main streets, the Marina is a 20 minute walk, Chinatown and other neighborhoods in close proximity. The staff was very friendly, the room was great - mine being on the third floor I was able to see the tip of the Golden Gate Bridge from my window, the bed was huge, everything was clean, and the price was more than reasonable. I will definitely stay here when I return to SF and would highly recommend to anyone!

“Very Friendly & Helpful Staff. Free Parking in San Francisco!”

We stayed for three nights. This is a basic accommodation but exactly what we were expecting as we travel regularly both in the US and abroad and this was not our first time in San Francisco. You just cannot beat the free parking, which is very hard to find in San Francisco! The location is great as well with everything you need just within a block, including a natural food Store and a pharmacy. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful! Go Castle Inn!

“Loved This Place”

I recently traveled to SF and stayed at the Castle Inn for 5 nights. Staff were very friendly and helped with ideas and directions. The rooms were very nice...a good room for the price! I also found the rooms to be very clean and quiet...my room was towards the rear of the hotel, so I am sure that it helped keep the noise level down. Parking was never a problem and a great bargin....it was free! If your plans don't take you out of SF, you really wouldn't need to rent a car. The Castle Inn is located in the perfect spot. Easy walk to the wharf, chinatown, north beach...union square was a bit farther, but still a nice walk. There are many restaurants located on Polk Street. On my next visit to SF, I will be staying at the Castle Inn!

“Ideal Place To Stay”

Stayed at the Castle Inn as part of a holiday touring the Pacific Coast and found it ideal for our purpose. Great location, good facilities and helpful staff - the advice that HW1 was closed as far as Santa Cruz due to land slips was especially valuable; we were about to head in that direction! I would recomend this hotel to anyone who is looking to explore SF and keep to reasonable budget.
